Walk into any public place and observe what people are doing. Yes everyone is preoccupied with their smart phone devices. But what are they doing on those devices? It’s not simply texting or talking on the phone any longer. Vblog wasn’t even a term very long ago. Now companies that don’t have a ongoing video presence are being left behind.

Of course real estate is not any different. But it is so much more than a video of the property or a drone view from up above. The use of video to communicate with clients, to explain special items in the industry (Vblog) and specifics about listings are exploding right now.

In the past, the realtor’s main tools were an automobile and a mls book. Now a camera with video 4k capability and a Youtube channel are standard.

In the Remodeling business there are always changing trends. The latest is Replace or Reface your Kitchen or Bathroom cabinets?Since 50% of your budget is cabinet cost we see that some clients want to paint the existing cabinets, unfortunately we do not provide that service. For us that is our game changer, so I do show the positive results you get from installing new affordable cabinets, and with a resale in their future they will get back what they put into their Remodel. Most new cabinets and Vanitys also offer lots of updated storage space and modern looks.

My goal with clients is to get them look at their Mortgage as a Financial Tool that they can safely use to Optimize their Net Worth and Maximize their Tax Benefits, with Minimum Risk.
So, with the boom in the economy, values are appreciating from 3% to 10% (depending on your area), which allows clients that purchased as little as 1.5 to 2 years ago, the ability to refinance to remove the Mortgage Insurance from their payment, and lower their rate and payment. Everyone’s situation is different, so connect with your LICENSED Mortgage Professional to see if refinancing makes sense for you.

Property values and rental rates are both increasing rapidly, as has been forecast over the past 3 years. For rental property owners that means equity is rising sharply and cash flow is improving with rental rates. This combined with the very low interest rates over the past ten years has created a perfect storm of profits for rental property owners. Thus property management services are in high demand.

The Tax Cuts and Jobs Act of 2017 signed into law in December provided a major overhaul to previous tax legislation. This is the first major change to U.S. tax law since 1986. The standard deduction is higher, which will cause fewer taxpayers to itemize their deductions. Personal exemptions have been eliminiated. The child tax credit has increased. The marginal tax rates have been lowered. These are just a few of the changes for 2018. Most taxpayers will see a slight increase in their paychecks for 2018, but not until February or March when the new payroll tax tables can be implemented. Understanding, interpreting and implementing the new tax law is my job. Small business owners should focus on running their own businesses and rely on me to keep their business and personal taxes in compliance with the new
    IRS rules.

IT Security has been a been a key element for all of 2017. One out of every three clients that contacted us last year was with a computer security concern.

The importance of corporate wide security footing cannot be minimized. Clients needs strong anti-virus and anti-malware software, strong password protocols, and strong internal processes that minimize the probability of a successful attack from intrusion.

ORPA Consulting will continue to provides all of these services and looks forward keeping clients IT working smoothly in the coming year…David Jennings

    Bat bugs.
Closely related to the bed bugs, their hosts are bats. After doing some research I discovered that there aren’t any pesticides labeled for “bat bugs”. And in the pest control world, any licensed pest control operator can only apply a pesticide for the target pest and that pest has to be named on the label of the pesticide. The label’s the law in the pesticide world.
After several conversations with a large chemical distributor, it was decided that if a pesticide which listed “occasional invaders” on it was used, that would be within the law.
The bats, bat bugs and guano are all eliminated, leaving me with another happy customer.

In the Trash and Recycling Industry, we always have tons of trash. This does not change but what does change is the recycling markets. Currently the cardboard market is booming and according to market standards the rebates for cardboard are very high. There has been an increase of cardboard in the trash stream which is called the “Amazon Effect”. The largest customer for recycling cardboard for the US is China and at the end of 2017 China announced they will be establishing stricter guidelines on the cardboard entering China. When China closes it cardboard imports, it will no longer be possible to give rebates. We always have a second plan for Waste Industries customers and we explain that recycling is a commodity and could change at any time. We will be able to recycle the cardboard with no rebate.

In the natural gas industry, because of the deregulation, individuals and business owners have a choice in selecting their energy consultant/marketer. The bottom line decision is just that: The bottom line and savings. In addition to providing our clients with some of the lowest rates in the marketplace, we also give them the benefit of saving an additional 25% or 50% on their gas bill, each and every month. Some are even getting their gas for free. When they’re ecstatic over the savings on this ‘gotta pay bill’, ranging anywhere from a few dollars a month to 50%, we ask them for referrals. As those referrals convert to clients, we thank them by reducing their monthly natural gas bills even more, sometimes wiping it out completely. It is indeed a wonderful snowball effect, that no other energy company provides. Rory Williams, Stream Energy; and I have gas!

Where have you gotten a shock of new information in your business recently?

A big shock of information in my business has come from the news that CVS is attempting to purchase Aetna
Is it something coming, on the horizon, that will be a game changer? Will it cause you to change directions?
If the acquisition is approved, it would definitely be a game changer. Aetna is my largest book of Medicare business. I don’t think it will cause me to change directions. I believe it will be beneficial to my clients and grow my book even greater.
Tell us what is new, in your industry, for you.
Something new in my industry to me is Health Care Ministries. It is a great alternative to ACA plans. Premiums are about 40% lower than ACA options and they carry a greater network of providers. I am currently working on expanding into that market.

It isn’t necessarily new information but events that are occurring more frequently causing us to modify some of the format of our emergency response procedures.
It is the weather and the rate of natural disasters involving water damage. It involves our response team and it has caused us to step up and increase our response time and ability to access the damage & get on to the next call quicker, thereby being able to handle more customers quicker and more efficiently.

Is it something coming, on the horizon, that will be a game changer?

General Motors (GM) introduced the self-driving car without a steering wheel in 2018. They also are introducing requirements and regulations that will allow the cost of software and auto insurance to be included in the price of the car. The problem of “distracted driving” caused by cell phones will be eliminated. The problems of “Uber driver” will be solved. The at-fault accident, not your problem. In other words, the advancement of more smart technology is the perceived solution and self-driving cars is just one of the examples on the new horizon. This technology will be a game changer for the auto insurance industry and will attract a generation of driver’s that rely on technology to handle many of the daily activities we have become accustomed.

The Low Carb and Ketogenic diets are being featured more and more in the mainstream media. This is a huge growth in knowledge versus when I researched and chose to implement this lifestyle myself 16 years ago in order to reverse my T2 Diabetes, and PCOS….with the happy side effect of losing 65 extra pounds and keeping it off for over 10 years.

There is no better time than now to have an experienced Keto Coach like me to help you wade through all the conflicting information about the Keto Lifestyle and experience your best health in the shorter amount of time.

You can listen to me being interviewed on the Keto Woman podcast here: http://www.ketowomanpodcast.com/?s=jessica

The biggest shock in the HVAC industry today is that most major manufacturers today have figured out that they have reached the peak of the maximum efficiency level possible. In days of past we offered minimum efficiency level through maximum and there was lots of levels to offer. With todays regulated minimum level there’s not as many offerings. Today most manufacturers are now concentrating on improving indoor comfort. This is done by doing a better job of controlling indoor humidity levels. Certain system options have two stage & even variable compressors that are designed to run longer using less power all while removing more humidity from within the home. We all know humidity truly dictates comfort.

It is common to talk about millennials in the workplace as feeling entitled. In reality, they want to feel engaged and involved, and that their business contribution has a larger impact on the world. They are, in their own way, idealists.

Why does this matter? Because it is bringing to the forefront what few (but successful) business people have always known: work culture is everything.

The effect is pervasive and has made people the priority of successful businesses, whether those people are employees or clients. It means that to be successful today your business has to be mission driven, has to display its values proudly, has to understand its clients and coach its employees. I create processes and plans to help businesses operate on these levels, with growth and revenues staying at the forefront of their needs.

The Juice Plus+ mission is to Inspire Healthy Living Around the World. There are two aspects in my Juice Plus+ business that are new in my industry.

1)This year marks the 25th Anniversary of Juice Plus+ whole food nutrition. The company continues to look at ways to meet the needs of 90% of the population that don’t consume the recommended 7-13 servings of produce every day. It doesn’t get much easier than consuming capsules containing powders from 30 different fruits, veggies, and berries every day. Recently, Juice Plus+ has added Omega Blend capsules to its product line. It is a blend of Omega 3, 5, 6, 7, and 9 that is all plant-based. That means no fish breath. It is vegan, non-GMO, and gluten free just like the other capsules.

2)The Tower Garden by Juice Plus+ is booming. Using aeroponics—the same technology NASA uses—Tower Garden grows plants with only water and nutrients rather than dirt. Research has found aeroponic systems grow plants three times faster and produce 30% greater yields on average. It uses less than 10% of the water and 10% of the land of traditional gardening. Initially, Tower Gardens were intended for home use. It has expanded to two new arenas – schools and commercial ventures.
Schools – Our goal to have a Tower Garden in every school. We have found that if kids help grow it, they will eat it. Juice Plus+ has created a free curriculum for teachers to use to enhance their learning experience.
Commercial ventures – Farm to Table is made simple when a restaurant grows its own produce. Whether it’s herbs or a variety of lettuces, kale, or celery, they can increase their customer’s dining pleasure. In addition, Tower Garden farms are springing up in places like Arizona or food deserts like abandoned buildings in the Bronx.

With Juice Plus+, the 21st Century is thriving.

At YEP, I’ve seen a “shock” in my business by educating my clients on how I can help them save time, money, and make a bigger impact. I provide a free planning session where we look at their company goals, annual budget, employee needs, events they plan to sponsor, etc. From there I do all the research and provide a comprehensive plan on how best to maximize their investment and brand recognition. All promotional items have their version of “Black Friday” specials at various times of the year. When I know ahead of time what my client needs and their budget I can be on the look-out for them and take advantage of great 30-50% off or more sales. This allows them to save money or get a bigger bang for their buck! According to the Advertising Specialty Institute’s annual impression study many promotional products are kept for an average of nearly 7 months, I want my clients to get that ideal gift their intended audience will keep and remember them by versus getting a frantic call from a client who say; “I have this annual golf tournament I sponsor every year and I need 200 trinkets in 14 days, what can you get me for $600?” In a case like this the client is spending about 50% of his budget on expedited printing, shipping and inflated prices. When I know a head of time what they need I always get them the biggest bang for their buck!!!

The number of patients coming in to my office without pain or a specific problem has been increasing lately. Most of them are already under chiropractic care, but they choose to continue coming in and getting checked because they want to stay out of pain. They treat chiropractic like body maintenance, so they can maintain the health and vitality to do the things they want to in life.

The “health care” system in the United States is backwards. In reality, it is more of a “sick care” system, and people are beginning to realize this. The current system is set up to treat people after they get sick, rather than keeping them well in the first place.

“Preventative care” is a tough concept for some people to grasp because it isn’t tangible – they don’t know if what they’re doing is actually preventing anything. Whereas when someone gets the flu or a kidney stone, they KNOW they have it because they feel the symptoms.

More and more people are learning to be proactive with their health rather than reactive, and it isn’t even that hard. People practice proactive health care every day just by brushing their teeth. They understand eating healthy and exercising are good life choices, and that it’s a good idea to see a chiropractor to keep everything aligned instead of putting it off until they’re in pain and have to call out of work. Using a proactive approach to health ends up being cheaper in the long run because it means less sick days, less medications, and less surgeries.

In law, there are constantly major changes. Fortunately, major changes come with a lot of publicity. It is the minor changes that require vigilance to track, which is why we have expansive legal research that we pay to have available. From the standard statutes and caselaw to extensive treatises, my firm pays for and I keep up with a constant flood of minor changes, in addition to the large ones.

These minor changes can have a huge difference, however. As an example, a technical rule is in place that prevents someone from having a hearing in family law if they did not provide a financial affidavit at least five days prior to a hearing. This prevents surprise tactics, and I was able to use this to prevent a hearing in a modification of a divorce. The hearing did eventually happen, but it gave me time to subpoena records to prove that the information provided in a financial affidavit the afternoon before the hearing was false information. Not knowing this small rule would have meant that my client would have been harmed, but knowing it allowed me to shine for my client.

The demands of a Life Care Planner (LCP) and Physician Assistant(PA)require being up-to-date on current clinical practice guidelines, regional pricing as well as therapies that are on the horizon. Governing bodies at both the state and national levels monitor compliance as and LCP and PA. Maintaining memberships with professional organizations and attending conferences for continuing education (local and national)ensures staying current in my field. Increasingly, Personal Injury Attorney clients find my unique skill set valuable for consulting at the pre-litigation, pre-trial or trial phases. At Meridian Solutions, being well informed, highly skilled and adaptable is the formula that affords my clients the greatest results.

In marketing everything is about being ahead of the curve. Even so, I really didn’t expect AR (Augmented Reality) to take off the way it has.

Pokemon Go really set the bar for how marketers could use AR, and most agencies (mine included) simply didn’t see it coming.

Even with that spike, it didn’t feel like AR was in a place to be usable by companies in any ongoing sense. But the technology is advancing so fast that it will soon be mainstream, presenting a major opportunity for marketing companies.

As to whether it will change my direction is irrelevant to how my company operates. We (like most marketing companies) are forced to adapt every day in order to maintain a competitive edge, so this is just another tool to be picked up on a never-ending journey. (Even if it is one I am excited to play with!)

A commonly held belief in my industry is that our method of assisting people improve their quality of life is better than traditional therapy. The more educated I become the more I challenge the status quo. Why does one thing have to be better than the other. Either can be the best solution depending on the individual and the nature of the situation. It’s just like saying a screwdriver is better than a hammer. They are both valuable tools. The best one depends on what is needed. What I did and continue to do to refine my knowledge is talk to other professionals who also specialize in helping people bring out the best in themselves and find out what tools they use. Many times we can work together and see greater results than we might see if only one of us worked with the client. It is more realistic to work in a synergistic fashion than to think one branch of therapy has all the answers for everyone.
