What to DO to GIVE Referrals
ZigZag: Invitations| Mirror Value
Conversation lead by the: Downtown Woodstock Team

Mentor Moment

CPA Chuck Aldenderfur had a system:  he invited five clients to visit each time he had a 7-Minute Presentation.

“I’m doing a short presentation you would benefit from at my referral network next Thursday,” Chuck would say, “you are welcome to attend as my guest.”

Chuck’s clients observed him as an expert, saw the respect the Team showed him, and learned information that supported their own business.

Chuck said three or four would attend, and he always got to do more business with them. Other Team Members did, too.

That’s an invitation with three-way value.

and Referral Trigger Question

Think about the Chuck Aldenderfer system. Now think about the topic for your next 7-Minute Presentation.

What business classification that is not filled at our table would benefit from hearing your next 7-Minute?

Tell us why it’s important for that business to get the information you’re going to share.

We’ll use you as a reason to invite Visitors that day.

I think most classification will benefit from my next seven min. I will be talking about Banking in these modern situation and how things could change going forward. Small Business owners are the number one users of “manual banking” and how many of my clients are moving quickly to “AI banking”.

In my next 7 minute I will be discussing how I screen and select individual investments and why proper asset allocation is the key to long term success with investing.

This will be helpful I think for estate planning attorneys who work to help a client preserve and protect wealth from a legal and tax standpoint but not from an investment standpoint.

Search experts would benefit from my next 7-minute. It’s important for search experts (formerly called Search Engine Optimization or Google Adwords experts) to hear my 7-minute so that their clients can experience even greater results from a search campaign. It’s human nature to make a decision about a business without reading.

People look and experience a company by what they see and feel. That means the colors of the website, the speed to loading, the photography, the style, the interactivity are all a recipe for people staying on a website or becoming interested in getting more information.

For search experts, I can offer a brand diagnosis first for their clients that will help them look really smart to their clients and also give them insights about their audience. This informs the search experts strategy and can also predict success or failure. For example, if their website sucks – sad colors, slow load time, no pictures of people, poor usability, their client will never get good results.

I can be an objective third party and deliver the bad news or good news to their client. Plus, they are seen as a resource for their client. Most search experts don’t have a person with digital experience since 1997 in their back pocket.

In my next 7 minute, I will be discussing flooring options for my clients based on the information I gather after performing a “Moisture Reading” of the sub-floor. Options for a particular flooring choice may vary once I’ve gathered some pertinent data.
A good Gate Opener for my business would be a Home Builder or General Contractor or a Flooring Distributor/Flooring Whole Sale Company, or Property Management Firm.
This will be valuable information to them because it will help them and their clients when choosing new flooring for an exiting occupied residence or a commercial space and or a new construction project.
Choosing the right flooring product the first time will help their clients save valuable time searching and potentially thousands of dollars if they make a wrong choice for the space they want to cover.

What a spectacular idea Chuck, that works on nearly every level, and it is super convenient in these days of Zoom call meetings!
Regarding my Training Within Industry presentation, my clients benefit from a knowledge of a best in class job instruction method. As such, every classification which intersects with manufacturing, commercial realtors, bankers and business service providers in particular, would benefit from gaining this insight which will be an invaluable tool for their clients.

My next 7 Minute Presentation will be on “Transition to Medicare”. Business Attorneys and Estate Attorneys need to know what options are available for their clients. Quality, affordable health insurance is essential before they will be ready to make a change. My services are free and will empower their clients in their next chapter of life.

Many of my clients go wrong when left to their own devices when naming beneficiaries on their life insurance. A natural instinct is to name a spouse and then children (or children directly if someone is unmarried). If minor children inherit life insurance proceeds, though, they would have to go into a court-supervised conservatorship. At age 18, the child would have full access to the money. (As the father of an 18-year-old, I can tell you that is not great timing.) Instead, parents should direct their life insurance to go into a trust established by their will that would benefit their children and delay their direct control until they are more mature — like age 25 or 30. A life insurance agent could benefit from a 7-minute presentation by me on this topic.

My next 7 min presentation will be on divorce. A Divorce attorney will be great to invite to the table. How divorce effects the families is different than how it affects real estate. In many cases a divorce decree with state one person will get the house and be responsible for the debt even though both are on the loan. A divorce decree does not trump title. In some cases, as part of the final agreement one of the parties will quit claim the property to the other, solving the problem, if this is not done there is an issue. Even though the decree says the wife gets the house we as Realtors need the husband’s agreement and signature because he is still on title. Knowing how to navigate a real estate sale in a divorce is more complicated than one might think.

Every massage therapist needs to come listen to my next seven minute presentation. I will be going over how I can reduce, and most of the time, eliminate migraines. Migraines are one of the more difficult things to treat in the health care field because they are often misdiagnosed. I wrote my senior research paper on migraines and chiropractic care. I logged hundreds of hours learning how to treat migraines.

It would be great for a massage therapist to come and listen because I will give them the correct questions to ask their patients. Just because a headache is severe, does not make it a migraine.

In my seven minute presentation, I will talk about how I properly diagnose, the similar misdiagnosed conditions and why it is important to get them treated naturally.

I have several 7 minute presentations ready to go, I just need to decide which one to polish up first. There are two business classifications that would benefit from my presentations. The first would be financial planners. They can help guide their client’s whose retirement goals are to travel on how much they really need to save to be able to travel in their golden years. Another classification that would benefit from my presentation would be wedding planners. When dealing with stressed out brides and grooms, it would be a great thing to have in their back pocket of a trusted travel agent that they can recommend to help check off one more box off the to do list for their couples.

A business classification at the table that would benefit from my seven minute presentation on corporate governance would be a business attorney. I would emphasize the need to have corporate board meetings. It’s required by law and can be a great tax write-off! A business attorney could help my client maintain the corporate minutes and explain the legal requirements for maintaining their corporation.

In my 7 Minute presentation I will discuss water pressure issues and how high water pressure in homes and businesses can affect other major parts of a plumbing system. Commercial realtors and property managers are two business classifications that could certainly benefit from knowing this information. Property managers can use this info to mitigate flood/property damage and Commercial Realtors will find this info useful in negotiations when they have a fixer upper or a distressed property on the table.

In my 7 minute I will discuss the proper installment of drywall thickness and proper painting options throughout the home, indoor and outdoor. Residential realtors, contractors or property managers are always great for business.

It is important to have the proper information as paint is not only one of the most economical ways to face lift a home or rental property, but it is also one of the most effective ways to protect these assets from the elements.

In my seven minute I will hopefully be demonstrating how to use a wood lathe. And turn a handcrafted one of a kind wooden pen. A Business classification that would benefit from my seven minute would be outdoor lighting and installation. They would see the benefit of a quality thoughtful thank you gift for their clients once a job is finished. example a handcrafted pen with the company‘s logo laser engraved into it. And how the small touches bring in more business.

My next Seven Minute will be on lawyers professional/malpractice insurance. They will see the benefit of an independent agent that has access to all the major markets for malpractice insurance and the experience to tailor a policy specific to the types of law they practice. For example Guard insurance is very competitive on family law but Hanover insurance Co is very competitive on real-estate law. Multiple markets for any type of practice.

A business classification that would benefit from my next seven-minute presentation and that is not currently a member of my team would be a personal injury attorney. A Personal injury attorney would be able to determine how comprehensive my products and company are and be able to make referral connections to their clients for the future to ensure that they are protected properly moving forward.

My next 7 minute will be on why crate training is so important for puppies and dogs. A classification that could benefit from this would be a personal injury attorney. They are the ones representing a dog bite/injury case and could refer me to their clients to lower liability as much as possible. The information I will be delivering could help them in any talk/speeches they give as advice for clients with dogs.

In my next 7 minutes I will be talking about Move in/out cleaning services. A business classification that would benefit from hearing me and that is not currently a member of my team would be a commercial realtor. The information would be helpful to them to help their clients with minor cleaning tasks.

In my next 7 minutes I will be discussing the firewall solution we offer that protects our clients office networks. In addition to network security and intrusion protection it also provides managed remote access via its VPN server functionality, which is becoming more important to a wide variety of businesses right now. While most small to medium sized businesses can benefit from this someone in business planning or a technical background would be excellent gate openers.

A divorce attorney like Doug Wise would benefit from my next 7 minute presentation because I’m going to talk about various income calculations that underwriters use and I have found myself doing a lot of loans this year for women who have just come out of divorce where they are in a situation where they have not ever managed the family finances and need to put a game plan together for how to budget on their own

In my next seven minute ill be discussing the various ways a roof can leak. I have customers all the time that call me to a home to investigate a leak from their roof, only for me to discover its not a roof leak, its a window leak. I believe a window contractor would benefit greatly from hearing my seven minute and this would also be a great gate opener. A residential window contractor would be able to hear how we go about fixing a window leak, from a roofers stand point, and be able to offer his professional assistance.

Always a pleasure to give a 7 minute presentation to educate our sales force. Some one I would like to Invite to a meeting would be a residential property manager.
They would be a great gate opener for many members of our team. Property management companies are always needing
contractors for cleaning, repairs, and insurance and financial advice for their clients.
