SBT from Naomi Mosely

Naomi invited me to coffee (I like that) when she was visiting a Team I was at to award recognition.

We met right after her second visit at a different Team, so I had questions for her.
First about the difference in the way she experienced each Team. (She had a list for me, I like that.)

Second, I had questions about her classification. All classifications go in cycles - (there was a time when Interior Designer was a HOT Seat) - and this month there have been four Visitors in the staffing classification, so I'm curious about what's up.

SBT: Employers do not choose job-hoppers.

  • she's had more than one candidate get to interview number 3 or 4  - all the way to the CEO - and be vetoed because they spend a year or two year at a company, then move companies.
  • I pushed back with the Pepsico standard - if someone hasn't been promoted in 18 months they're stalled - and she clarified that promoted within the company and moving to a different company are separate issues for the hiring company.
    • Less than 5 years at a company is risky because of the expense a company has in training, insurance, and IT with a new hire. If the new hire leaves in two years, that's investment out the door for the hiring company. They mitigate their risk by looking at previous tenure.

Of course we talked about

  1. remote vs in person (marketing could be, IT maybe, others not so much) ((I forgot to ask her about sales.))
  2. The Great Resignation (she validated, "It's real.")
  3. Zoom vs Teams (Zoom for personal, Teams for groups)

Schedule coffee with Naomi. (You'd like that.)
