How the Brookhaven Team Shares Gratitude

  • Jake Shumard told Jacque Streever,
  • Jacque Streever made an introduction for Jake to a Publix store manager,
  • Fred Streever worked inside to help Valora, the manager get logistics in place.
  • Sunday evening, along with Kim Green and Austin Miller, they put together 1,000 (ONE THOUSAND) boxes of food.
  • in 90 minutes! (Good things can happen in an hour-and-a-half.)

From Jake:

For the last twelve years The Shumard Family Foundation has been proud to partner with local Atlanta Food Bank,  Community Assistance Center, and Neighborhood Cooperative Ministries to provide food boxes to over 1,000 Atlanta families annually.

Post pandemic it has become a major logistical challenge to get a major retailer to make such a large delivery at our destination of choice, the Greater Atlanta Christian School. Publix has graciously accepted this major undertaking. Without them this project could not happen.

Undoubtedly we are blessing the community, but we are also blessing our volunteers who consider this project to be one of the greatest family based experiences of their year."
