Questions about PowerCore Cost and Policies

Question from a past Visitor:

Hi Wendy,

I attended the Sugarloaf PowerCore Team a few months ago. I wanted to reach out to you as I have a few questions:

1. What is the cost to join annually? So, how much after the $149 for 3-months?

2. Is weekly attendance to my home group required and visits to other groups are optional?

3. What does the training look like (i.e. dates, times and where?)

4. Is it still okay to attend other networking groups around the city?

Thank you.

These are great questions - thanks so much for asking.

1. What is the cost to join annually? So, how much after the $149 for 3-months?

Members can continue to renew quarterly ($149) if that's what fits their budget, and we offer discounted 6-month ($283), 12-month, ($506) and 24-month ($951) options.

  • The other two costs (this is true of every association) are the cost of location (your own coffee at La Madeline) and the cost of getting to know each other (lunch, coffee). In all cases, we each pay our own way.
  • The only other cost is the initial registration fee, $104, which includes five things: MembershipJournal, Team Roster, name badge, Orientation Essentials, and InfoMinute Seminar along with the mentoring program.
  • Membership is not refundable, and Members with remaining weeks can [1] sell them to another Member, [2] give them to another Member, [3] ask for "Pause" and return to use them later.

2. Is weekly attendance to my home group required and visits to other groups are optional?

Yes. And,

  • The attendance policy for your home Team allows 3 absences in a 6-month period. (4th absence and the seat is opened.)
  • When you arrange for a Substitute, you are not considered absent.
    • A Substitute [a] sits in your seat, [b] presents your InfoMinute and referrals, and [c] cannot be a conflict with a Member of the Team.
  • Yes, you may Substitute for Members of other Teams (Jennifer Flores subs frequently.) You may not "visit" another Team without subbing for a Member of that Team. There is no requirement for you to ever be a Substitute.

3. What does the training look like (i.e. dates, times and where?)

  • Information Monday is the third Monday of each month. Three events are offered at The Printing and Imaging Association of Georgia.
  • Orientation Essentials and InfoMinute Seminar are part of the mentoring program.
    • (Most Teams require the five parts of the mentoring program to be completed in the first 90 days, or they don't extend a renewal.)
  • The times rotate - for example, next month OE and IMS are back-to-back in the morning, and an extra workshop is offered in the afternoon.
    • We rotate times because some people can never do morning, some can never do afternoon, some stay for the whole day, some come to one session a month -- options.
    • Extra workshops are not a requirement. There is no charge to Members for the extra workshops.

4. Is it still okay to attend other networking groups around the city?

Absolutely -

A key component of How to Benefit From an Association is understanding (and choosing) three different types of associations to join.

  • One where every Member is a prospect, (based on your Best Client Genome).
  • One where every Member is a potential GateOpener (this is often a single occupation or trade association).
  • One with the broadest possible cross-section of Members. (That's where most people slot PowerCore.)
    • If you'd like the list of 21 types, I'm happy to send it.

It is a conflict to belong to two close contact associations.

  • Close-contact has three defining characteristics: one Member per profession, meets regularly with an attendance requirement, tracks the business created between Members.
  • Clear, then, for example, that ProVisors is not a close-contact association.

With my very best wishes for your success -

W!
