I carry my Power Core membership roster in my notebook and look, listen and probe for opportunities to help clients with contact info from my team members. I have been in building products for 25+ years and know most people are on the hunt for at least 1-2 subcontractors at any given time. I pride myself in having a complete "gotta guy for that" list so I can help any client with any need. When customers ask if I "know a good (insert trade name here)" I always say "No, but I know a great (insert trade name here). Can I give you their contact info?" Then I set up a 3 way text. I use this approach to provide leads for all my team members. Being in residential construction and remodeling, obiously the trade related lead opportunities come more frequently than non-trade opportunities. I am surprised, however, how often potential opportunties come up for non-trade team members....printers, insurance, real estate, etc. That is when good listening skills come in handy.
