I love learning new things and exploring new places. My favorite continent (so far) is Africa. I have too many hobbies, but cycling and pickleball are currently at the top of the list. My husband and I have two incredible (almost grown) kids.

The Anxiety Epidemic

Our society is facing an anxiety epidemic. But here’s the thing: the same energy that fuels anxiety can be transformed into determination. One tool I use is getting butterflies into formation. Research shows that anxiety is at an all time high because of social media.

I don’t try to convince my clients to ignore what they’re feeling or believe something that isn’t true.

My client was uncomfortable about a conversation she needed to have with a manager about taking a break from a class she is currently teaching. I used the technique of mental rehearsal where I played the manager. She messaged me to let me know the manager understood and left the door open for future opportunities.

I’m a great referral for your friend who's complaining about a presentation that she bombed two weeks ago.

Ask her how she is feeling about her next presentation. She wants people to talk about how good it was.

I’m Liz Taylor with Legacy Coaching Group.

InfoMinute

As a coach, I always clarify the difference between coaching, counseling, and consulting.  Coaching requires time and effort on the part of my clients. There are a few similarities between a business coach and a sports coach. An athlete doesn't get stronger, faster, or better because they hired a coach. The athlete gets better because they put in the work that the coach outlines to achieve the desired goals. I want to be clear about the time commitment before we start a coaching engagement so that it is not a waste of time or money for my client.  Coaching focuses on moving forward and making changes. With new clients, a first step is always clearly defining their goals because it is not productive to "move forward" if that progress moves them in a direction that does not ultimately serve them.
