My client offers Mobile Pet Grooming and has 2 vans to reach customers across Metro Atlanta. I knew that in February most carriers took a rate increase for Auto insurance which included Business Auto. I also know insurance companies require that the customer initiate all changes to their policies including discounts and saving discussions. What I did was make him aware of the potential increase and encouraged him to pay careful attention to the renewal offer that he would receive 45 days prior to the new policy becoming effective. I checked with him to see that he'd received his renewal and was aware of the 62% premium change. After reviewing his renewal, he decided to shop for a better rate. Communication prevented an unpleasant surprise of an automatic deduction hundreds of dollars more than he had been paying, overdraft fees, embarassment, frustration, and the inconvenience that an unplanned several hundred dollar payment would cause most of us.
